Overview
When I was finishing my master's in Machine Learning at Georgia Tech, I was also wrapping up a research role at Apple — where I'd spent years studying how phones and watches could detect early signs of cognitive decline. That work led to a co-authorship in Nature Medicine and gave me a deep understanding of how devices can read human behavior in ways we never thought possible. Around the same time, I was going through my own healing journey. I discovered EMDR therapy — the most effective modality for trauma — but I couldn't afford it alongside the talk therapy I was already paying for. $200 a session, months-long waitlists, and absolutely nothing to support me between appointments. That's when it clicked. EMDR is fundamentally different from talk therapy. The therapist doesn't guide you through conversation — they observe your emotional state and adjust bilateral stimulation accordingly. It's pattern recognition. It's exactly what I'd been training machines to do at Apple. So I built it. SoltaAI uses real-time facial expression and voice emotion analysis — running entirely client-side in the browser — to deliver adaptive bilateral stimulation that responds to how you're actually feeling. No API calls, no data leaving the device, no latency. Just the core mechanism of EMDR, made intelligent and accessible to anyone with a browser for $11 a month. I didn't build this because AI is trendy. I built it because I couldn't afford the help I needed, and I realized I had the exact skills to fix that — not just for me, but for the 8 million Americans who need EMDR and can't get it.
Traction
as reported by the founder93 users, 23 paying subscribers, $0 customer acquisition cost, 18% conversion rate. Product live for two months but have mostly focused on development. Consistent week-over-week organic growth with zero paid marketing. 30+ clinician conversations informing product development. Clinical advisory board in formation with practicing EMDR clinician advisor. Patent-pending adaptive bilateral stimulation technology.

EMDR is the most effective treatment for trauma and anxiety — recommended by the WHO, outperforming talk therapy and medication. But it costs $150–$300/session, requires 8+ sessions, and only 10% of therapists are trained in it. Waitlists stretch 6+ months. Meanwhile, 70% of people experience trauma in their lifetime, and most never connect their chronic pain, insomnia, or anxiety to unresolved traumatic memories. Solta AI makes EMDR accessible to anyone with a webcam.
First, our AI runs entirely client-side — real-time facial expression and voice emotion analysis via ONNX models in the browser. No API calls, no latency, no data leaving the device. This isn't an LLM wrapper. As we collect session data and integrate clinician feedback on emotional state labeling, we're building a fine-tuned model specifically calibrated for therapeutic contexts. No open-source model is trained on what a trauma response looks like during bilateral stimulation — that dataset doesn't exist yet, and we're creating it. Second, our adaptive bilateral stimulation system is patentable and we're pursuing patent protection. We're the only platform that dynamically adjusts therapeutic stimulation parameters based on real-time emotion detection — a compounding data flywheel where every session improves the models. Third, regulation is coming to this space, and we're positioning ourselves to shape it. We're building a clinical advisory board and engaging a regulatory consultant now so that when the FDA draws the line, we're already on the right side of it — and the barrier to entry rises for everyone behind us.
There are over 8 million Americans who meet clinical criteria for PTSD alone — and that doesn't include the broader population dealing with trauma-related anxiety, C-PTSD, or acute stress. Only about 50,000 therapists in the US are EMDR-trained, creating a fundamental supply-demand gap. Our near-term addressable market has two segments. On the consumer side: conservatively capturing 1% of the 8M underserved EMDR population gives us 80,000 users at $132/year, or roughly $10.5M in annual revenue. On the clinic side: 5% adoption among EMDR therapists — 2,500 clinics at $600/year — adds another $1.5M. That's a $12M near-term opportunity with zero international expansion and no new modalities. The broader opportunity expands significantly when you consider global trauma prevalence (approximately 70% of adults worldwide have experienced at least one traumatic event), expansion beyond EMDR into adjacent modalities, enterprise and payer channels, and the post-discharge outpatient model where we help prevent ER readmissions for trauma patients. The global behavioral health market exceeds $100B and is growing double digits annually. We're starting narrow — EMDR bilateral stimulation, direct-to-consumer and B2B2C — and expanding from a position of clinical credibility and proprietary data.
Phase 1: Prior to clinical validation we'll position ourselves as a wellness tool for nervous system regulation. Competitors will be Calm and Headspace. Phase 2: After clinical validation, we'll introduce messaging on therapy, EMDR, PTSD, trauma, etc. then our competitors are therapists charging $200/session + Virtual EMDR and Heal EMDR - who are not clinically validating and are not leveraging AI to adjust based on emotion.
